Every year during the summer my mother in law does a
GRANDMA CAMP
the mission statement is:
"While having FUN at grandma camp we will learn something-through field trips and crafts. This will be accomplished while spending little or no money- on crafts, field trips, food, and props. Every grandchild will be included and we will all help each other share in the fun and learning. Everyone will show respect and patience for each other and follow all the rules so that everyone enjoys themselves."
When we started the day it at grandma house they all colored pictures Reese was able to go to the first part of the activity but because she is not potty trained she got to stay with me.
libby, Addie, trey, braddock, brevin
grandma asked us all to bring recyclables to her house she also asked her ward as well and here was some of the unused items that the adults had to use to make our inventions with.
Waiting for the opening of Grandma camp
someone just wanted to play downstairs
Having fun with bristy
Grandma camp begins with some instructions about how we act and what we will be doing in a minute.
For the field trip we went to the Springville Art Museum they had an exhibit from tim little called creatures from the junk pile. He says his inspiration came from the saying ..."To invent, you need a good imagination and a junk pile." -Thomas Edison. They were pretty cool pieces. The kids really enjoyed it. I however enjoyed the quilt show that was going on much more.
Reese is only 6 months and Boston is 14 months. The 2 youngest ones enjoyed seeing the museum riding in a stroller.
I missed them holding hands I couldn't get my camera out fast enough.
Riding the elevator to the second floor! it was awesome!
All the grandkids at grandma camp made it into 1 photo!!

Now the real reason Grandma wanted to take a field trip to the museum was for this water exhibit.
The grand kids were going to replicate this in grandmas back yard as best as they could. The older kids were interested in how it moved the little ones just wanted to play in the water.
Outside in the garden of the kids found a ton of fun things to "play" in.
Take a picture of the picture takers :-)
Grandpa watched the little ones, because I didn't want to take them
down several steps and wake one of them up.
Leaving the museum to head to the springville splash pad.
I headed out for the rest of grandma camp since it was my birthday. Marshall gave me a massage gift certificate so I headed to be pampered while he took reese.
At the end of grandma camp the parents are invited to a bbq and closing "ceremonies" event. We were given 30 min to create something from all the junk on the kitchen table it had to have moving parts and use at least 10 things.
Bill and Andy made this
Brett and lori made an airplane that had a moving propeller
Chad and Tawna made a parachuter
Brad and Bristy made a car (it just needed coke and mentos)
Marshall and I made a catapult
Which shot marshmallows into the kids mouth from his seated position.
Waiting to catch their marshmallow!!
Reese was all dolled up for the day. She was 6 months old cant believe how time flies!
We got to see all the inventions the kids made.
Libby was bored and wanted to show us the toothbrush
grandma gave her (because we forgot to pack one)
A marble track
Bubble makers
Picnic saver. Using Velcro on the bottom of your plate and cup they wont blow away.
Hand washing station
And the Piece d'resistance the water feature.
Lori made minion cupcakes since they are inventors the kids
and adults loved eating them!!
And look I finally got my picture taken.
